Made by traditional craftsmen, this Shigaraki pottery comes direct from the Shiga prefecture - one of Japan's six ancient shrines, with a long history of pottery dating back to the 13th century. Shigaraki pottery was officially recognised in 1976 by the Japanese government as one of Japan's traditional crafts.
